The man who discovered the language of the trees

I had written a poem called "The man who discovered the language of the trees" sometime in 2016. I don't know how that thought came into my mind and perhaps I should get into the fortune telling business. But seriously, since then I have learned that there is a woman by the name of Suzanne Simard who has actually done most of the research on this topic. How presumptuous of me. In my defense, this was before the popularity of gender pronouns and the #metoo movement, and also in my defense, I assumed the tree was a woman.

The story is fascinating how she finds two trees talking to each, exchanging resources, and helping each other out. Trees are not just competitors but also cooperators. What an other worldly finding!

I am in two minds if I should rectify my mistake and make it "to the woman who discovered the language of the trees."  The poem is still in the making ... here are the first couple of sentences ...

To the woman
who discovered
the language of the trees

We asked
what the tree
Thought of the rain

... being completed in top secrecy!
