or sled down it.

on affection and call it adventure.
And when was the last time
you looked at a hug
and thought: tectonic majesty?
Or said: behold,
the mountain of you and me?
Did you ever climb on love
and experience heaven
in the valley of this world?
I’m not against love.
It’s fine, like oatmeal,
or those feel-good ads
with dogs rescuing children.
But give me granite and fog
slipping down ridgelines
like forgotten thoughts of God.
Maybe what the world needs
is to remember how to be small again,
for instance give us a try,
navigating dragonflies
and falling pinecones
not too far from the sky.
