Once in a while you stumble into singing that is so beautiful that your sense of the world changes. Blue turns into a happy color and the emptiness of the sky fulfilling. I woke up and randomly picked Sarah Monagle's website (which is no longer active). Enjoy this beautiful a poem that she wrote in April 2013:

Piece of Sky

The piece of me that is the sky
flies within the blue, hopes with
the sun, believes the clouds.
Above, the piece watches me,
sends me to the sea to breathe,
scatters green, gifts wildflowers
like smiles. In the sky, a piece of me
flies, and within me lies ~
a perfect piece of sky.

I really liked this poem I read today by RC dewinter. First, because it is a song with no ego, a poem that bares it all. And second, I really liked the structure -- the metaphor of "cobbled together" is used again and again, and in the end we know its about the person. Really well crafted. Cobbled Together

by RC dewinter

bits of this
a scrap of that
bent nails
and mismatched board
peeling paint
rainsoaked wood
cobbled together

crazyquilt barn
full of moldering junk
pieces that make no sense
hammered onto
the structural walls
that refuse to fall down
cobbled together

no plan no rhyme
and not much reason
patched and tattered
and patched again
barely serviceable
that would be me
cobbled together
Over the past few days, I've been completely immersed in the mesmerizing tunes of an incredibly inspiring song. What makes it even more extraordinary is the unusual fusion of genres behind it. When Grace Shultz and Tony White first met, they embarked on a musical adventure that no one could have anticipated. Combining elements of punk, folk, bluegrass, and Texas swing, they dared to tread beyond the conventional boundaries of music, giving birth to a wholly new creation they aptly named "Punkgrass."

The result of their audacious experimentation is a harmonious blend of melodies that resonate with those yearning for something extraordinary, something beyond the norm. Listening to this genre-defying masterpiece, I find myself entranced by the sheer brilliance of this novel music style.

Honing their newfound brand of music on the vibrant sidewalks of downtown Nashville, Grace & Tony embarked on a path they couldn't foresee. Undeterred by the uncertainty, they were determined to share their artistry with a larger audience. Hence, they began booking local shows across Tennessee and neighboring regions, leaving a trail of awe-struck listeners in their wake.

In 2011, fate led them to collaborate with producer Lloyd Aur Norman and engineer Stephen D Jones at Villain Place in Nashville. Together, they recorded their debut EP, "Inside a 7 Track Mind." The songs they crafted delved into themes of murder, addiction, and lost love, yet they skillfully intertwined a happy twist, making for emotionally connective music that left a lasting impression.

Since the EP's release, the doors of opportunity swung wide open for Grace & Tony, ushering them into a world they had never imagined possible. Their album found eager fans, with several hundred copies already sold. Their captivating performances led them to headline the illustrious Historic Crockett Theater, and they were honored to grace the stages of the legendary Daytrotter Sessions and Knoxville's Blue Plate Special, further solidifying their presence in the music scene.

As if that weren't enough, the duo achieved an impressive feat with two of their music videos airing regularly on The Country Network, reaching millions of households and captivating audiences across the nation.

With the anticipation building up, 2013 holds a world of promise for this young couple. Their debut full-length album, "November," has been carefully recorded and is set for an exhilarating release. The excitement among their devoted fans is palpable, having already successfully funded Grace & Tony's Kickstarter campaign and witnessing their hometown shows sell out a remarkable month in advance.

In essence, what I've been listening to is not just music; it's an exquisite fusion of passion, creativity, and unyielding determination. It is a testament to the boundless possibilities that can arise when artists dare to step beyond the confines of convention. Grace & Tony have crafted a musical gem that stands as a shining example of how music is truly meant to be - beautiful, innovative, and capable of touching the very core of our souls.

I am sharing a beautiful poem by Rachael Nicole that I found inspiring. It reminds me to say the words that we are meant to say should be said in a timely manner. The words that we choose to silence often come back to haunt us and destroy our peace.

It also reminds me of Guru Tegh Bahadur's poem that I have sung (see below): "What should I do mother? The noose of death is now on my neck. I have wasted my life and not sung."

Rachael says it reminds her off Thoreau's purpose of writing as described in "Walden": "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

Broken hearts
for broken things.
Bones broken,
dreams and chances
lost and gone.
All can be
mended, reclaimed,
except for words
unbroken when
opportunity has passed
or recipient is
dead.
Unbroken words,
silenced,
haunt – and break
again.

Lost time
- Guru Tegh Bahadur

Small Things

You don't spend as much on them, still,
it is the softer notes of the song
that reach hearts swifter.

One dream keeps you wondering.
One dream keeps you trying.
