We were done eating at Chipotle today — really celebrating my daughter’s seventh birthday, when someone from the Jehovah’s Witnesses came to talk to me. His name was Dennis Marshall. He spoke pretty good punjabi for seeming typically born and raised here in the US. He asked me to go to jw.org which I will check out. I found the following information about Jehovah’s Witnesses from Wikipedia.
He talked about “truth” a lot. So I came back and sang the song of truth from Guru Nanak. “Satnam.” How can you forget the lord who is true, the one whose name is true. Sat Naam. True Name.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are best known for their door-to-door preaching, distributing literature such as The Watchtower
, and refusing military service
. They consider use of the name Jehovah
vital for proper worship. They reject Trinitarianism
, inherent immortality
of the soul
, and hellfire
, which they consider to be unscriptural doctrines. They do not observe Christmas
, or other holidays and customs they consider to have pagan
origins incompatible with Christianity. Adherents commonly refer to their body of beliefs as “the truth” and consider themselves to be “in the truth”.
Jehovah’s Witnesses consider secular society
to be morally corrupt and under the influence of Satan
, and limit their social interaction with non-Witnesses.
