I am very excited to share with you today a creation of pure love. In the past few weeks I have been collaborating with some very talented musicians from around the world to rearrange “Prem” which was released earlier this year. After a lot of work these musicians have put in, I am delighted to say, we have a song that we all love. And it is because this is a creation of love. It is such a beautiful gift to be able to create such arrangements and make them available for anyone to download for free. Feel free to listen, download, and send the song or the link to friends and family … especially the ones who are in the need for the hope of love.
“Prem, That’s Amore” on Reverbnation
If you are on an iPhone you can play “Prem, That’s Amore” here:
The original composition that I released earlier this year was called “Prem” based on this beautiful poem by Guru Gobind Singh. Prem in Brij Bhasha means Love. “Prem – That’s Amore” (where Amore means Love in Italian, similar to Amor in Spanish) borrows from Dean Martin’s famous song “That’s Amore”:
When the stars make you drool
just like a pasta fazool
When you dance down the street
with a cloud at your feet
You’re in love
When you walk down in a dream but
you know you’re not Dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
That’s amore, That’s amore
This beautiful poem was written by Guru Gobind Singh and says that Love is the ultimate path; its superior to the paths of meditation, pilgrimage, and intellect. Love is the only way to God, Guru Gobind Singh says.
“Prem, That’s Amore”
Doesn’t matter how long
my shut eye meditates
and howsoever long
my open mind contemplates
How far I rummage
from place to place;
every holy pilgrimage
just goes to waste!
Or have down deep
many scriptures dug,
but still fail to be
ONE like the lovebug*.
The plain truth remains
the eternal life of spring
that I wish to attain
only true love can bring
* The lovebug is a member of the family of march flies (thats why the reference of Spring). The specialty of the lovebug, because of which it gets its name, is that during and after mating, adult pairs remain coupled, even in flight, for up to several days! In that spring, there are not two, but just ONE! Two bodies one soul.
THE RAAG – ASA
The raag is Raag Asa and is supposed to be sung in the morning. It expresses hope. There are different types of Asa sung; this particular one expresses hope for love.
David Baynes, an independent songwriter/producer living in Stirling, Ontario, has significantly contributed with several instruments (most notably the cello, Spanish guitar, and arrangement) and with the arrangement of the piece. In a very short period, it became clear to me that David is a highly talented musician. I hightly suggest visiting David in Southern Ontario area at his beautiful lodge B&B La Dolce Vita whether you want to listen to his music or record some!
Mauro Clerici is a highly talented musician and a guitarist with a penchant for inventing new ways of playing stale chords, and new rhythms to play stale beats. His music is truly filled with love, just like he is. To listen to Mauro’s music, please visit his Kompoz profile.
Alice Leonz from Jakarta, Indonesia has given the background vocals and added tremendously to this project with her enthusiasm. She worked very hard on this project and prepared several tracks that were included in the final version of the song. I encourage you to visit her website: http://aliceleonz.com/. Find out more about her in Alice Leonz – Harmony Queen of “Prem, That’s Amore”
I feel very fortunate that I was able to make music with these incredibly talented musicians.
